The course has a modular architecture, each section will delve into a specific topic regarding the use of the Pavone nanoindenter. During your first run through the course, the module are followed in a fixed order. After completed of the course, the different modules can be followed in any order, to be used as a visual knowledge base.  

This self-paced, interactive learning experience aims to reproduce the ordinary usage routine in the use of the Pavone Nanoindenter, and to bolster your learning experience we also recommend reproducing the operation directly on the instrument, use the course as a digital step-by-step guide. 

Throughout the course sections, we'll explore the Pavone's components, probe handling, software interface, probe and well plate calibration, camera and imaging, basic and advanced indentations, extra modules, and experiment optimization. Each chapter concludes with a small quiz to confirm your understanding of the concepts. Upon finishing the course, you'll receive a certificate to acknowledge your accomplishment.

Unlock the power of mechanobiology with the Pavone Nanoindenter!

The Optics11 Life Pavone nanoindenter training is focused on providing all the knowledge needed to use your Pavone high-thoughput nanoindent and designing experimental protocols of indentation on various samples.

During the course, you will start by learning about the basics of indentation such as find-surface procedures and signals (piezo, load, indentation, cantilever bending). Then, you will be introduced to probes and learn how to select the right one for your experiment in terms of stiffness and tip radius, and calibration steps. Next, various indentation modes will be introduced (static and dynamic, open and closed-loop) together with the background into the mechanical behavior of biomaterials such as elasticity, plasticity, viscoelasticity, nonlinearity and adhesion, and appropriate data analysis. Finally, the combination of PIUMA and CHIARO with imaging will be discussed together with the best sample preparation practices. After this course, you will be ready to start the investigation of the mechanical phenomena of your biomaterials.
